(Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe) Mhare: Enhancing Resilience of Community-Based Organisations
About Hlanganisa
Hlanganisa Community Fund for Social and Gender Justice (Hlanganisa) is a renowned intermediary grant maker that supports community development through provision of small grants and accompaniment to community-based organisations (CBOs). This support is envisioned to contribute towards protection of human rights, promoting social justice, fostering active citizenry and delivery of key services to underserved communities.
Hlanganisa’s work is through four thematic areas, Access to Justice, Climate and Energy Justice, Democracy and Social Accountability and Gender Justice. This call falls under the gender justice programme which seeks to strengthen community-level gender-based violence interventions. The focus for this call is mainstreaming GBV into disability programmes. This is done through building institutional resilience and supporting GBV inclusion in programming.
About the Call
The shift in public and private funding priorities has severely impacted the work of many CBOs, not least those servicing the needs of women affected by GBV. Because many of these CBOs support vulnerable populations like women with disability, this constituency has been grossly impacted. Hlanganisa is undertaking a multi-country intervention aimed at building resilience of such CBOs through grantmaking, capacity building and strategic sector convening to ensure that they continue to provide these critical services.
With the programme going into the third year, Hlanganisa invites potential subgrantees to be part of the next cohort of partners. Grassroots organisations with a track record in gender-based violence or human right-based disability programmes from Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe are invited to submit funding proposal.
